Why might you need drone insurance?
Drone insurance can provide cover if your drone is damage, or against claims made by someone who may have been injured or had their property damaged by your drone. For example, if you lost control of your drone and it falls onto someone’s home, you can be covered for both the damage to your drone and for any claim for damage from the homeowner.
If you are flying a drone for commercial reasons – e.g. professional photography or videography – then you could face a fine if you are caught flying without insurance.
What insurance do you need for your drone?
The CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) regulation (EC) 785/2004 – “Insurance Requirements for Air Carriers and Air Operators” defines the minimum level of insurance cover required for all air carriers and air operators.
The level of insurance required is dependent on the type of drone you are operating and how big it is.
Our partnership with Moonrock Drone Insurance allows us to offer public liability insurance to drone operators up to a limit of £10 million to cover any accidental damage or third-party injury caused by your drone. So if your drone crashes into a house or falls into a crowd while in use, you can have cover in place to pay for any claims made against you.
You can also cover against material damage or theft of your drone, and all policies include Cyber Attack cover as standard.
