Louisa Sando-Patel copywriter

Q1: Tell us a bit about what you do?

I’m Louisa, a freelance copywriter and content writer. I run a successful copywriting business called Bright Owl, producing marketing content and sales copy for digital channels and printed literature.

Q2: How long have you been self-employed?

I’ve been self-employed for over 6 years.

Q3: Why did you choose to become a freelancer/self-employed?

I developed a passion for writing copy after working on marketing communications in corporate settings for many years. Whilst working as the Communications Manager for a national leisure firm, I decided to hone my skills by undertaking a copywriting diploma, where I gained a distinction. I then made the brave decision to become a freelancer and I’ve never looked back!

Q4: Can we see some examples of your work?

Some examples of my work can be found on, but as I am under NDA with many of my clients, examples of my work are usually anonymised and sent on request.

Q5: How has the coronavirus pandemic affected you and your business?

Although my workload (and income) reduced dramatically in the first two months of lockdown, overall, my business hasn’t changed drastically in nature. I already worked from my office at home, but I have missed meeting my clients face to face and attending networking meetings.

Q6: Where can people go to find out more about you and your services?

You can find a full list of my services on my website or follow me on social media:

Q7. Can you tell us a project you are really proud of?

I worked with the Bank of London & ME last year to help them update their website. This was a collaborative project, a mix of copywriting and copy-editing, and I am really pleased with the end result.

Q8. Who would be your dream client?

A leading travel company; I have travelled around the world twice, so I have a good knowledge of global travel.

Q9. What’s the one piece of advice you would give to an up and coming new freelance writer?

There’s no such thing as a silly question, so never be afraid to ask your fellow freelancers if you’re ever unsure about something. Over the years, I’ve gained invaluable knowledge from my business network.
